Automotive manufacturing releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during processes such as body painting, protective-coating application, drying and bonding. These processes often generate large exhaust-air volumes with low VOC concentrations, creating a challenge for efficient emission control.
Zeolite Rotary Concentrator
This system is ideal for treating large air volumes with low VOC concentrations. The exhaust air passes through a rotating zeolite adsorbent, where the VOCs are captured. A small stream of heated air then releases and concentrates the VOCs for efficient downstream treatment, for example in a thermal oxidizer.
Activated Carbon Adsorber
The adsorber uses activated carbon to capture VOCs from exhaust air. Activated carbon has a high adsorption capacity and is periodically regenerated with hot air. The system is cost-effective for applications with low VOC concentrations and high airflow rates.
Regenerative Thermal Oxidation (RTO)
RTO is suitable for higher VOC concentrations or for treating the concentrated stream from a zeolite concentrator. The exhaust air passes through a ceramic heat-storage bed into the oxidation chamber, where the VOCs are oxidized at high temperatures. Process heat is used to preheat the incoming air, increasing energy efficiency.
