A Recuperative Thermal Oxidation system provides an effective solution for removing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from exhaust air while reducing energy consumption through intelligent heat recovery.

How recuperative thermal oxidation works:

A fan first draws the exhaust air into the unit, where it is preheated in a recuperative heat exchanger, often of the shell-and-tube type. The exchanger uses heat from the hot, cleaned air to warm the incoming contaminated air. The preheated air then enters the oxidation chamber, where a burner raises it to the temperature required to oxidize the pollutants.

In the oxidation chamber, the VOCs undergo thermal oxidation and are converted into harmless water vapour and carbon dioxide. The hot, cleaned air then passes through the heat exchanger again and transfers its heat to the incoming air. This substantially reduces fuel consumption and increases the energy efficiency of the entire system.
