The manufacture of composites such as glass-fibre-reinforced plastics and carbon-fibre materials releases volatile organic compounds (VOCs), particularly during lamination, curing and resin application. Because high energy consumption places a considerable burden on our customers, we always seek the most efficient solution.

Emission control technologies for the composites industry:

Regenerative Thermal Oxidation (RTO)

RTO is suitable for removing high VOC concentrations generated in composite production. The exhaust air passes through a ceramic heat-storage bed into the oxidation chamber, where VOCs are oxidized at high temperatures. Process heat is recovered and used to preheat the incoming air, substantially reducing fuel consumption and operating costs.

Regenerative Catalytic Oxidation (RCO)

RCO uses a catalyst to oxidize VOCs at lower temperatures, saving energy. It is ideal for operations with a defined pollutant composition and helps reduce the process’s energy demand.

Activated Carbon Adsorber

For large air volumes with low VOC concentrations, an activated carbon adsorber is a cost-effective solution. The activated carbon efficiently captures VOCs and is regenerated by a small stream of hot air, reducing energy consumption and operating costs.
